What We Believe

A message from Michael P. Doss, President and Chief Executive Officer

At Graphic Packaging International, our business is based on a simple concept: Inspired packaging that makes a world of difference. We create innovative packaging that helps our customers' products stand out on the shelf, while offering convenience and quality to their consumers.

As an industry leader and a corporate citizen, we recognize that our influence reaches far beyond our day-to-day business operations. We are focused on growth and the consistent delivery of strong financial results over the long term, and we know that financial results and corporate responsibility are not mutually exclusive. To excel at both, we focus our philanthropic efforts on three pillars: preserving the environment, putting food on the table and investing in education.  These pillars reflect the importance we place on the health of our communities and focus our philanthropic initiatives around the world.

Our product portfolio is comprised of packaging that is made from renewable and recycled materials, and is itself recyclable. We are one of the largest recyclers in the United States, using more than one million tons of recycled material annually in our coated recycled board mills.  We utilize all the wood that comes into our virgin paperboard mills, either to manufacture paper or to produce power by burning unusable biomass. In Macon, Georgia and West Monroe, Louisiana, we generate most of our electrical power from renewable energy sources, and the Macon mill even provides excess renewable energy to the community.

My leadership team and I believe in setting the example at the top. We mentor young people through partnerships with Junior Achievement and the Boy Scouts of America. We invest our time in local educational systems and with children with life-threatening conditions. Our employees are active volunteers, dedicating many thousands of hours to more than 130 organizations in 2016. Globally, we partner with schools to introduce students to the paperboard industry and the science behind sustainable packaging. We support food kitchens, disaster relief efforts and the United Way, and we enthusiastically participate in local initiatives such as school supply drives, holiday gift collections and community clean-up efforts.

Throughout our more than 100 years of servicing our customers, our roots have grown deep in our local communities.  As we continue to expand our presence worldwide, I am proud to say that making a world of difference in our local communities will always be a big part of who we are.
