West Monroe Mill
The GPI mill in West Monroe, LA is our largest
paper mill. It houses the first machine in the world built to produce
beverage board, and the first to produce wet-strength grade for
beverage packaging. We added a $23 million state-of-the-art coating and
additives facility in 1995, and today this mill produces three grades
of boxboard on three paper machines, each of which has unique
characteristics and products. The
mill’s newest paper machine, a three-ply Fourdrinier, allows
excellent manipulation of wood furnish for high-quality carton
performance. The machine produces both Pearl-Kote®
folding cartonboard and Aqua-Kote®
carrierboard. This paper machine is a high-volume producer capable of
running over 1000 tons a day of wet-strength carrierboard for beverage
packaging. West Monroe’s #2 paper
machine produces lightweight, low-caliper coated and uncoated
paperboards such as KrafKote®
post-print linerboard, and Aqua-Kote®
carrierboard. This mill has the first, largest
and most effective water treatment system in the Southeast, is in close
proximity to ports, raw materials and transportation, and was the first
U.S. mill to receive ISO 9001 certification.
