Leading global manufacturer of paper-based packaging, Graphic Packaging International (‘Graphic Packaging’), has been shortlisted in the prestigious UK Packaging Awards 2020 for several packaging solutions, including KeelClip™ and PaperSeal® Tray, alongside the notable accolade for Packaging Company of the Year.
Both PaperSeal and KeelClip were designed, developed and manufactured by Graphic Packaging and have seen significant commercial success since their respective launches in early 2020, delivering economically viable, sustainable packaging alternatives for customers. Each innovation faces stiff competition in their prospective categories with PaperSeal featured in the Cartonboard Pack of the Year and KeelClip up for Best New Concept.
Steve Gould, innovation director for Graphic Packaging’s beverage division in Europe, said: “As a pioneering innovation, KeelClip is the only pack of its type to work with all can diameters and heights and in configurations up to a 10-pack, offering our customers a premium package with the flexibility they need in a fast-changing market segment. We’re delighted to see KeelClip being recognised in the UK Packaging Awards.”
With the company’s 2025 sustainability vision firmly in focus, Graphic Packaging is also in the running for Resource Efficient Pack of the Year for its Indian Box Meal. The packaging was designed for the co-operative to meet consumer demand in the food-to-go grocery space.
“It’s a great honour to see our Indian Box Meal, which was tailor-made as an ergonomic and resource-efficient solution, listed among such innovation,” said Graham Jackson, Key Account Manager at Graphic Packaging. “Approximately 95% of the sustainably sourced product can be recycled through normal consumer channels, including both the paperboard and inner trays when clean, making it a great contender for this year’s awards.”
The fourth accolade sees Graphic Packaging named as a finalist for Packaging Company of the Year, alongside DS Smith and Essentra.
Tom Garsed, marketing, innovation and design director at Graphic Packaging added, “The UK Packaging Awards program is recognized throughout the industry for showcasing the best in creativity, sustainability and innovation. Not only are we thrilled that our packaging ranges have been honored in the shortlist, but we’re incredibly proud to be named as a finalist for Company of the Year.”
