
General Mills’ Limited Edition Justin Jefferson’s Jettas Mix Cereal Pack Brings the Bling to Breakfast
Challenge
General Mills joined forces with NFL superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson to create a custom cereal mashup of fan-favorite Lemon Frosted Cheerios with the newly released Strawberry Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Justin Jefferson is all about flashing speed on the grid and diamonds off the field. So, General Mills wanted a packaging solution that reflected Jefferson’s signature style, maximizing visual shelf impact and creating differentiation in a crowded cereal aisle.
The new solution needed to:
- Create maximum visual shelf impact in a crowded cereal aisle
- Leverage the equity of Justin Jefferson’s high-profile brand
- Provide a sustainable packaging solution suitable for nationwide distribution
Solution
General Mills partnered with Graphic Packaging to create a pack that commands consumer attention by using multiple enhancement techniques to reinforce the Jettas brand.
To support the creative process, Graphic Packaging’s enhancement specialists and Product Visualization Team worked closely with the General Mills team to produce digital 3D prototypes of multiple carton versions.
The visually impactful carton selected features a spot-applied matte varnish and an overall high-gloss coating, with holographic, faceted-pattern foil stamping on the Jettas logo to mimic the sparkle of diamonds.

Results
The placement of the enhancements and the strong contrast between the black background and colorful elements like Jefferson’s image, the cereal bowl, and a graphic montage create a design that ‘jumps off the shelf’ and is unmissable in in-store displays.
The holographic foil element is particularly eye-catching, with light-reflecting facets that catch the consumer’s eye and change and sparkle as they move towards, or handle the pack.
The pack not only grabs attention on the aisle but also serves as a collectible that many consumers will hold onto, providing both Jettas and General Mills brand impact throughout the product’s life cycle. Should they wish to discard it, the paperboard pack is recyclable through curbside waste streams.
